About Me Briefly
I’ve been right here on the web since 1996. And since that time, I have had a long, sordid history in the computer world. I've been a Network Engineer, System Administrator, Web Designer, and now a Webmaster. I have always been a hand coder, a modern term for developers who resist automated generation and type every line themselves for precision and control.
Before that time, I did a 20-year hitch in the Air Force (1976-1996), where my involvement with computers began, and when I retired from that, I moved the family to this really small town nestled in a valley with literally no other towns nearby. And it’s beautiful, quiet, friendly, and slowly growing more so. I have 4 kids (3 girls, 1 boy), now grown, who are living their own lives.
My computer coding started on an island in the Pacific, Okinawa. I was stationed with my now ex-wife on Kadena Air Base. We lived there in a small one-bedroom house located on one of several Marine bases. They called it Futenma housing. My first computer was a Commodore 64, and I learned to write in Hex and Decimal. Then Basic, well maybe it was Basic first, then the other.
Now, in my retired years, I am a carpenter, plumber, electrician, woodworker, gardener, grass mower, and, well, let’s see, this-that-and-the-other-thing too. I stay busy. But I do not now, nor have I ever been one to just sit and watch TV - hence this CMS (Content Management System) to keep me occupied and keep my mind working.
